Unit Assessment
Introduction:
Day 1:
1. Introduce video assignment: Students are to create a 5 minute video that reflects what they have learned from this unit and specifically addresses their response to the inquiry question: "Many strides have been made to improve the lives of those living in poverty. Is it possible to eradicate severe global poverty?" Students may choose their format, such as a news story, public service announcement, a skit, a music video etc.
Activities:
Day 1:
1. Show class example videos, and have students evaluate them
2. Students break into groups and complete pre-planning
Day 2:
1. Students write scripts and turn them in through the class website for teacher commentary
Day 3:
1. Students address teacher concerns and finalize script
2. If there is extra time, students practice
Homework: Finalize script is not done so in class
Day 4:
1. Students create props for video
2. If there is extra time, students practice
Homework: Complete props if not completed in class
Day 5:
1. Students practice and record their final video
Homework: Finalize videos and post to class website if not completed during school hours
Day 6:
1. Students watch the class videos and critique them
2. Teacher facilitates a unit debriefing discussion with the class
